Earthcoin is a global cryptocurrency based on the scrypt algorithm, launched in Toronto, Canada, on December 20, 2013. It is committed to sustainable and fair development. The total supply of Earthcoins is 13.5 billion, with cycles of 365 days, starting with 10,000 coins per block, varying according to a sine curve with an amplitude of 2,000.
1. Project Technology
Blockchain Parameters:
• Scrypt hash algorithm
• Proof-of-work (PoW) mining
• 60-second block target
• Difficulty readjustment after each block (+167%, -91%)
• Total coin supply will reach 13.5 billion coins (theoretically infinite as the smallest block reward is 1 EAC, but practically not exceeding 13.5 * 10^9 over the next 2,000 years)
• 50 confirmations per minted block
• 5 confirmations per transaction
• Support for transaction messages
• Initial block reward averages 10,000 EAC, seasonally adjusted (currently 625 EAC)
• Block rewards halved annually, with a minimum of 1 EAC per block
• Superblocks every 14 and 31 days
• Default ports are 35677 (P2P network) and 15678 (RPC calls, optional)
2. Project Features
1. Transaction Speed
The mechanism behind Earthcoin is peer-to-peer, enabling very fast transactions. This means that once you make or receive a payment using Earthcoin, the transfer time is equal to or sometimes faster than a regular debit card. Earthcoin facilitates approximately 30-second transaction times, which in reality have come down to 10-15 seconds, considered instant today. The real advantage of this speed is the ability to use it in any store in the near future with the same speed as the currency you currently hold.
2. Security
In mid-2017, the Earthcoin network suffered a 51% attack and was controlled by a group of hackers. Over several months, due to the communitys relentless efforts, the attack was pushed back, and EarthCoin was returned to all users. The source code was then fixed to prevent similar attacks in the future, and unique protections against time-travel attacks were implemented. Compared to most other cryptocurrencies, the EarthCoin code is now more secure.
During the first half of 2019, the Earthcoin network underwent significant upgrades, implementing security features based on the current blockchain protocols of Bitcoin and Litecoin networks.
