The District0x network is a collection of decentralized markets and communities, referred to as Districts, built on Ethereum, Aragon, and IPFS technologies. These districts are decentralized autonomous organizations within the District0x network, constructed using the open-source framework d0xINFRA. The d0xINFRA framework evolved from the Ethlance technology stack and includes Ethereum contracts and frontend code repositories.

1. Project Overview

The goal of District0x is to facilitate the operation and management of markets and communities as decentralized entities. District0x aims to recreate many of the most popular applications and services on the internet while eliminating rent-seeking and avoiding the surrender of decision-making and personal data to third parties.

The District0x community operates based on a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO), with its token, DNT, used to purchase applications within any community. Token holders effectively become shareholders of these community applications and can participate in community governance through Aragon, earning rewards. As the number of District0x community users grows, so does the value of DNT. Unlike typical DApps built on Ethereum, this project is an open-source community with significant potential for appreciation.

Standards for Market Creation and Operation
The District0x network is a collection of markets and communities known as Districts. All districts require the following functionalities to operate an online marketplace accessible via list and gallery-style user interfaces:

The backend of each district is controlled by shared d0xINFRA contracts and a set of district-specific contracts. The d0xINFRA framework is designed to be open and extensible, allowing for the implementation of unique and enhanced features through plug-in modules.

d0xINFRA Framework
Ethlance serves as the model for this framework, representing the original district and acting as a sandbox for improving d0xINFRA. Soon, Ethlance will be joined by two new districts: ENS Bazaar and Meme Factory, the second and third applications deployed on District0x.

ENS Bazaar is a peer-to-peer market for trading names registered through the Ethereum Naming Service, providing an easy-to-discover registry for purchasing ENS names. Meme Factory, inspired by Simon de la Rouvieres Curation market model, provides an interface for creating provably rare digital assets on Ethereum that can be directly posted and traded on a bulletin-board-style market.

Governance Through the Community
Aragon is a revolutionary platform for deploying unstoppable companies and entities, serving as an operating system for decentralized autonomous organizations. Aragon improves the foundational governance of organizations, including the distribution of voting shares, voting, role assignments, accounting, and financing. In essence, Aragon provides tools to promote team collaboration through economic incentives, enabling the District0x network. To allow anyone to freely join and participate in community governance activities, align the incentives of district participants, and enable the deployment of collaborative decision-making mechanisms within the District0x network, we introduced the District0x network token.

The District0x Network Token (DNT) is a stake-based token that allows holders to join a district and participate in its governance. Based on stake-based tokens, participants gain corresponding voting rights within a district. Voting rights can be used to decide matters such as a districts branding, governance rules, integrated modules, and the fee structure for revenue-generating modules.

Technical Overview

d0xINFRA Architecture: The core of each district is the d0xINFRA architecture, built on a standard open-source architecture consisting of Ethereum smart contracts and frontend libraries, supported by IPFS to provide essential functionalities for districts. The d0xINFRA architecture is designed to be open and extensible, allowing for customization and the addition of extra features through auxiliary modules.

Ethlance: Launched in January 2017, it is a decentralized job market for freelancers and full-time workers, serving as the first and ongoing district within District0x.

ENS Marketplace: Currently under development, the ENS Marketplace is a peer-to-peer market for trading domain names registered through the Ethereum Name Service, offering an easily discoverable registry for purchasing ENS domain names.

Meme Factory: The third district to be deployed on District0x is the Meme Factory, which will provide an interface for creating rare digital assets on the Ethereum blockchain. These digital assets can be immediately posted to a bulletin-board-style market for trading.

Future District0x Project Districts: The District0x project team intends to introduce more new districts to the District0x network, serving as sandboxes to refine the d0xINFRA architecture and demonstrate the capabilities of decentralized markets and communities.

Create Your Own District: After the deployment of the district creation platform, all internet users will be able to quickly create their own districts on the District0x network. Supported by a decentralized interface, District0x provides a creation platform that bypasses regulatory and intermediary bodies.
