"STC is the native Token of the Starcoin network, with a total supply of 3,185,136,000 STC, a constant amount. Its current main uses include: paying for transaction gas fees; paying for state space fees (once the future state billing mechanism is activated); used for on-chain governance voting; in the future, as the on-chain ecosystem matures, STC will have an increasing number of use cases.
Starcoin is a blockchain project designed for distributed finance and structured in layers, inspired by Facebooks Libra released in 2019. The goal is to build a simple financial infrastructure that serves ordinary users, using its smart contract language Move, which is specifically designed for distributed finance networks and digital assets, to achieve an open permissionless public chain. Starcoin is the first public chain project to support the Move ecosystem. Starcoin inherits Bitcoin’s excellent security mechanisms and provides high transaction throughput capabilities through improvements to the PoW algorithm and the introduction of a multi-layered network.
